Windows laptop or MacIntosh laptop?

Windows Laptop and the MacIntosh Powerbook are the most preferred plaptops for people around the world. A Windows laptop has the Windows operating system installed on it while the MacIntosh Powerbook manufactured by Apple Inc. uses its own operating system. Not like as Linux system operation, Windows system operation has many bugs and is easy to hacked.

Windows laptop and Macintosh Powerbook comparation

There are many variety if you choose Windows Laptop. It ranging from high-end, mid-range and ultralight laptops. If you would like replace your desktop machine so you need a high-end laptop. A high-end laptop usually highly recommended for game maniacs. These machines usually have a large screen, fast processor and the maximum storage capacity. However laptops in this category weigh about 7 to 8 pounds and also include internal media devices such as CD-ROM and diskette drives. There may be a few USB ports so that you can attach external devices such as printers and digital cameras as well. A mid-range model is suitable for those consumers who would not like to shell out a fortune for their laptop. A mid-range model weighs a few pounds less than a high-range model and has a smaller screen. A mid-range model may be a little slower than a high-range model in terms of processor speeds and the options of internal media are more limited than in the high-range model. Ultralight models have the smallest display of all three and also the processor speeds are the slowest. The expansion capabilities and internal media are limited and the media devices are usually on the external side. The main advantages of ultralight models is they are easier to carry around because of their light weight and battery life is longer.

The Mac laptops usually usually targeted towards the home, education and the highly professional services market. The MacIntosh Powerbook is the first MacIntosh laptop powered by the Intel Core Duo processor. It has a 17 inch wide screen, but also is available in a 15 inch wide screen. The MacIntosh Powerbook is available in three configurations, the 15.4-inch model at 2.0 GHz (US$1999) and 2.16 GHz ($2499) and a 17-inch model at 2.16 GHz $2799). All three models come with the Intel Core Duo Processor and an 80GB or a 100GB or a 120 GB hard drive. USB ports a FireWire 400 port, a ExpressCard/34 expansion slot, DVI and VGA connectivity (VGA via included adaptor), optical S-P/DIF and analog sound output and inputs, gigabit Ethernet are also added in all the three configurations.

The machines run on the Mac OS 10.4 operating system which is the system developed by Apple Inc. The Powerbook also has a magnetic power connector known as Magsafe and it can detach easily when yanked to prevent the laptop from being pulled off the surface. The keyboard is backlit so that the keys are easily visible and there is also a scrolling trackpad that comes standard across the line. Extra accessories include an external USB modem as there is no internal modem available now and a TV output adaptor.
We have mentioned the basic features of the Windows Laptop and MacIntosh Powerbook. Both types of laptops are good in their own way. Weigh your needs and choose wisely.

MacBook Air Review

A year after announcing the iPhone, Apple presents its latest laptop: the MacBook Air, which they claim is the thinnest laptop in the world. Is the MacBook Air really the dream laptop for all travelers or does it conceal irreparable gaps?

Presentation

The MacBook Air features a 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen display, the MacBook Air has similar dimensions than the MacBook, but its maximum thickness does not exceed 0.76 inches. Look, keyboard, touchpad
The MacBook Air is immediately enticing. Breaking with the design of the MacBook and Pro MacBook, that present comparatively rectilinear lines, Apple chose to conceive a chassis with very lightly rounded edges, which contributes to reinforce its thinness impression. The MacBook Air weighs a little less than 3 pounds. The body of the shell of the MacBook Air adopts a gray anodized surface similar to what one rediscovers on the Pro MacBook or on the rear face of the iPhone. After several days of use, and the necessary moments of adaptation, the keyboard of the MacBook Air reveals itself very pleasant.

The screen

The MacBook Air has a webcam (640 x 480) of poor quality and a microphone. By increasing the luminosity, use the Macbook Air in the outside light.
The MacBook Air inaugurates a new generation of touchpad, inspired by the iPhone, the first movable telephone of Apple. WiFi but no DVD
The reader of your principal machine will be able therefore you to serve to install applications, transfer contents towards the MacBook Air and even resettle your operating system but it may take 5 to 10 times longer than using a DVD reader. Powered by a processor Core 2 rhythmical Duets to 1.6 GHz, engraved in 65 nanometers, the MacBook Air is not a speed demon, and is slower than the other Apple laptops.

Performance

Certain applications extremely resource intensive work clearly slowly on the MacBook Air, due to its 1.6 GHz processor. Battery Life
While selecting the eco mode proposed by Mac OS X and the screen luminosity to 75% of his capacity, the MacBook Air was able to work during 3h15 before the low battery warning showed up.
One could think that with his MacBook Air, stretched Apple to create a new segment on the laptop market. The performance of the MacBook Air will suffice for light traveler users i.e. bloggers, connected fanatics, journalists, and other sales representatives. Apple has attempted to circumvent some of the handicaps of the MacBook Air. The other solution would be to adhere to the idea that the MacBook Air is conceived only as an auxiliary machine, a light portable and elegant one coming to complete your work station for the days where you travel and only do light work.
In spite of the beautiful lines and user friendliness of the MacBook Air, it does not deliver the ultra portable promise as expected. The previous MacBook performs better, is more functional, and cheaper!

Dell Inspiron XPS M1201

Today we will look at an exciting ultra-compact portable computer optimized for today’s life and travels. The DELL Inspiron XPS system based on Intel Merom processor proved an excellent solution. You only need a portable digital companion, a notebook computer.

The notebook must be light and small, yet easy to work with. It must have high-performance but economical components so that it could last long on the dell xps m1210 battery. A large selection of wireless interfaces would also be welcome in a traveling notebook. The Dell Inspiron XPS M1201 is a vivid example of that. Not all notebooks marked as XPS M1210 have a discrete graphics solution on board, though. It’s the latter version of the notebook that we’ve got for our tests. The Dell Inspiron XPS M1210 is based on a Merom-core CPU with the Core micro-architecture. First, the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 has a 4MB L2 cache. The Centrino Duo logo doesn’t allow telling which exactly CPU resides inside the notebook.

Our tests will show how such crucial parameters of notebooks as battery life and performance have been affected by the technical innovations. But first we’ll examine the Dell Inspiron XPS X1210 carefully from all the sides. We’ll also take an ASUS W5F notebook as an opponent to the Inspiron. The Inspiron XPS M1210 is based on a Merom-core processor with a frequency of 2.33GHz while the ASUS W5F has a Yonah-core 2.0GHz CPU (it is the highest CPU frequency among all the Intel Core Duo processors we’ve ever tested in our labs).

The sides of the lid are by half painted silver to match the top part of the notebook’s body. Above those connectors there is a block of multimedia buttons highlighted in blue when the notebook is turned on. These buttons include (from left to right):

* Play/Pause
* Previous Track
* Stop

The display lacks a lock as is typical of notebooks of that form-factor. There are rubber pads on that bezel for softer contact between the display and the notebook’s body. Centered beneath the display is the Dell logotype.

Our notebook didn’t have that camera, though.

The Dell Inspiron XPS M1210 is equipped with a widescreen 12.1” display with a max resolution of 1280×800 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:10 (WXGA). We measured the brightness and contrast of the notebook’s display using a Pantone ColorVision Spyder with OptiCAL version 3.7.8 software. We selected the highest possible brightness setting before this test but it would become much lower when the notebook switched to its battery, automatically enabling power-saving measures. AC power source:

* 110.1cd/sq.m brightness, 27:1 contrast ratio

DC power source:

The notebook’s keyboard consists of 84 silvery-colored keys with a soft movement and a somewhat rough surface. The functional buttons are smaller than others. The notebook’s hard drive was formatted in NTFS before the tests. Then we installed Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 with DirectX 9.0c, system drivers (from the included disc), and Windows Media Encoder 9.0 with Windows Media Player 9.0. We also installed Windows Media Player 10.0 for such tests as PCMark 2005 and SYSMark 2004 SE.

* Power-saving services – Off
* Maximum screen brightness
* Maximum display resolution (1440×900)
* Windows Taskbar is Unlocked
* Windows Taskbar hides automatically
* Classic Desktop theme
First, we selected the Always On power mode for maximum performance and the shortest battery life. Our tests:

1. Performance benchmarks: synthetic (SiSoftware Sandra 2005, SiSoftware Sandra 2007, PCMark 2004 1.3.0, PCMark 2005 1.2.0), office and multimedia (SYSMark 2004 SE, Business Winstone 2004, Multimedia Content Creation Winstone 2004), and games (3DMark 2001SE Pro, 3DMark 2003 3.6.0, 3DMark 2005 1.2.0, 3DMark 2006 1.0.2, Quake 3, Quake 4, Unreal Tournament 2003)
2. Battery life tests (Battery Eater Pro 2.60)

There are three test modes in Battery Eater:

* Idle mode

We called the ASUS W5F with its Yonah-core CPU a mobile intellectual in our earlier review, but the Dell Inspiron XPS M1210, even with its integrated graphics, is much smarter without a doubt!

This CPU core is going to have higher frequencies and to work within the framework of the Santa Rosa platform together with an improved integrated graphics core. Highs:

* High-resolution widescreen display
* Relatively long battery life

Lows:

* Mirror-like display
* Low performance in games
* Inconvenient placement of the multimedia buttons

How to make your laptop run faster

How to make my laptop run faster, maybe you always think about that, I know the feeling. Actually, laptop can lack the overall processor power of regular desktop computer. This makes it more susceptible to slower computer speeds.Here there are some easy ways to make your laptop faster.

First, as usual we need to run a disk defragmenter. This stuff function is compresses all of your files and streamlines them. And it will speed up the amount of time it takes to access programs and process information. Usually I using a disk defrag once a month. There are many option to run it, you can run it manually or have a program schedule and run it automatically.

Secondly, you can cut down on startup programs. It seems like every time you install new software it wants to launch at startup. This adds up after a while and will eat up a lot of valuable RAM which can cause general sluggishness. Just click run and type msconfig and then choose startup you can manually remove some of these unnecessary programs. You can also download software which can perform this task for you. There are many free software about it.

Then the most important step to make your laptop run faster is clean up the Windows registry. Most folks are not aware, but the registry is the single most important area of your system. Unfortunately because Windows cannot internally clean it, the registry becomes filled with errors. This causes a major slow down in startup, shut down, and overall laptop speed. The only way to clean the registry is by running specialized software.

Make your laptop run faster in minutes

To make your laptop faster you should perform these three steps. If you are lazy like me you can install software which will do all three for you as well as other speed tweaks. For a free scan and diagnosis check out the software below. You can visit this site to download the tool http://www.registry-clean-up.net

How to maintenance your laptop in normal temperature

How to maintenance your laptop from high temperature and keep it in normal temperature? In this article I want to give you information that help to keep your laptop's temperature normal and steady.

You need a software for example, NHC 2.0 (Notebook Hardware Control) software to monitor my laptop, this software function is monitor your laptop's temperature any time without having to check it from BIOS which need to restart your laptop, so that you can decide what you have to do when the temperature is high and keep your computer in normal temperature for sure. This software user friendly and free software, and you can control the hardware and system power management of your laptop. Otherwise you can customize your laptop ACPI control system, cool down the system and reduce power consumption, etc. If you have a Dell laptop or problems with the above version please use the other bug fix version.

This is a little tips to maintenance your laptop in normal temperature:

Always maintenance your cooler fan, if you found your CPU's temperature more than 60C and keep rising, but if its rotation keep working, it's mean you have to check the air disposal of it, make sure it's not bold dusty, clean it using small vacuum cleaner or you can open the laptop's case if necessary. After finishing that step, you can turn on your laptop and check the temperature after 10 minutes. If the temperature is still rising to 70C or more then you have to replace your internal cooler fan.

Place your laptop on a place which the air circulation is swift, like on a table, floor, etc. Because the fan in your laptop gets the air supply from the bottom of laptop, therefore you have to place it on the hard flat surface place. Yet, if you wanna place it on the bed or sofa or anything else if you only have an external laptop's cooler which usually installed in the bottom of your laptop.So, your laptop always in normal temperature

Toshiba's NB205 is a great value

Toshiba may be new to netbooks, but the company is no stranger to small. Toshiba's NB205-N310 ($400) jumps into the market and claims a top spot in our rankings. This primo portable not only delivers where it counts with the longest battery life to date, it does so with panache and some great design decisions. In short, Toshiba has come a long way since blazing trails with its Libretto subnotebooks in the 1990s.
I'm going to start this review with the NB205's only real "downer": its pedestrian speed and guts. The guts are a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB 5400-rpm hard drive, which together earned the NB205 a rather standard performance score of 36 in PC WorldBench 6. Toshiba spokespeople say that the NB205-N310's six-cell battery can last for almost 9 hours. In our tests, the NB205 survives a staggering 9 hours, 53 minutes. For a little perspective, that is easily the longest time so far that a netbook has been able to run--and this is with the standard battery on board. That alone catapults this netbook's worth to a top pick on the charts.

A killer keyboard and a touchpad to match are essential for a champion netbook. After all, how useful is a machine if you can't type on it without hurting your hands? Toshiba scores by making the Chiclet-size cutout keys just big enough, and by dropping down a huge touchpad. This is simply the best netbook mouse pad to date. For starters, the surface area of the strike zone is larger than that on many full-size laptops! Next, the beefy mouse buttons camp at the southern edge of the machine--easing hand strain. My physical therapist would approve.
The N310 has good (though occasionally muted) color reproduction and supports a reasonably precise resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels on its glossy 10.1-inch screen. I noticed some dark spots that got washed into a splotch or two--but otherwise, the images looked plenty sharp.
Its configuration looks fairly standard on the surface: three USB ports, an SDHC card reader, a Webcam, one VGA-out, ethernet, and headphone and microphone jacks. One notable perk is a pass-through USB port that enables users to charge USB-powered devices while the computer is off. This netbook also provides an internal accelerometer to protect the hard drive in case of falls (much as the HP Mini 2140 does)--and it offers wireless WAN support as an option.
As a quick heads-up, another version of the NB205 is waiting in the wings--the lighter, scrappier NB205-N210. The big differences between these sibling Toshiba netbooks boil down to price (the N210 costs $350, $50 less than the N310), key shape (the N210 has flat, wide keys, as opposed to the N310's cut-out style), and the N310's bluetooth support (the N210 doesn't have it).

Note also compabilitas hardware and software, Vista is still having trouble (not compatible) with the add-on hardware and softaware.

Memory: If you buy an Apple laptop, two gigabytes of built already available. But if you want to use Windows Vista to get the best performance, you need at least three gigabytes memory.

Processor: office for day-to-day, dual-core processor is good enough. Again if you plan to use a laptop to play the game, then choose a higher processor.

HP do many things to make the TouchSmart prominent in terms of design and functionality. An example is the provision of a real light at the bottom of the screen that we will make it easy to type at night or in the dark. HP also pair this lamp to light supporting Ambient atmosphere (mood light).

Lights under the screen to provide around-ray IQ518 appears like this in the dark. The lamp can be made lighter or darker with the switch who have left the screen.

Tips for Your Notebook battery

if you want to go to the far place, one point you have to do, efficient and keep your notebook battery in good performance, here some tips for your notebook battery. but it will work if you have put your battery in your laptop.

1. Sleep Is Good
Use the operating system's power-management features (in Windows XP, under Power Options in the Control Panel; or in Vista, under Mobile PC in the Control Panel) to set aggressive targets for when the display will go dark (say, after five minutes of inactivity) and when the machine will slip into sleep mode (no longer than ten minutes of inactivity). And if you can spare the extra time it takes for the machine to resume, set the PC to hibernate, not just sleep, when you close the lid.

2. Don't Be Performance Hungry
Unless you're running high-order mathematical calculations on that long plane ride, chances are you don't need all the processing power your CPU is capable of giving. So in Vista, select the "Power saver" power plan (found in the Control Panel, in the Power Options section) to extend battery life when on DC power, and leave the 3D gaming for when you're near an AC outlet.

3. Dim the Lights
Turn down the brightness of the LCD panel (via the Function-key combo, or in the Control Panel's Display Settings dialog) to the lowest level you can tolerate. The backlight sucks power like the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

4. Banish Non-Essential Components
When you aren't actively using the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and IR radios, turn them off (via the hard switch, if your PC has it, or in the appropriate utility set), so they don't trickle you dry trying to connect. Also, use USB-attached devices only when absolutely necessary. They aren't getting their power from positive ions in the air, you know.

5. Watch Scheduled Tasks
Be sure that your periodic virus scan is set to a time when you're usually plugged in; running a full-disk virus check keeps the hard drive and CPU fully engaged for the better part of an hour.

6. Lay Off the Multimedia
A little in-flight music is nice while you construct that PowerPoint presentation, but streaming music from your hard drive (or playing a CD) means the disk (or disc) is always spinning.

7. Get More Juice
Let everyone else fight over that free AC outlet. Designed to sit underneath your notebook, the APC Universal Notebook Battery 70 ($149; www.apcc.com) can provide up to six hours of endurance using its lithium polymer technology. It comes with a variety of notebook tips and features selectable output voltages. The unit adds 1.8 pounds to your carry-on, but it's better than having your laptop run out of gas midflight.
